Caribou Peak Wild Area dominates the southern half of this landscape, a high-elevation terrain defined by volcanic features and a complex network of alpine water bodies. The terrain rises to Caribou Peak and Black Butte, while the northern portion is characterized by the volcanic heights of the Bogard Buttes. This 2012 survey illustrates a landscape managed largely for conservation and forestry, where dozens of small lakes like Triangle Lake, Twin Lakes, Turnaround Lake, and Eleanor Lake dot the depressions between peaks.
