Lake Powell and the winding course of Cataract Canyon define the northwestern corner of this territory where Garfield and San Juan counties meet. The landscape is a high-elevation labyrinth of deep drainages and named promontories, including the Plateau Region and Dark Canyon Plateau. Human passage through this canyon country is marked by the remote Sweet Alice Rd, which provides one of the few points of access across the high ground between Bowdie Canyon and Lean-To Canyon.
