The Salish Mountains define this northwestern Montana landscape, where the high-elevation divide separates the drainages of the Flathead National Forest and the Kootenai National Forest. This 2024 survey documents a complex network of forest development roads, including Natl Forest Develop Road 36 Rd and Natl Forest Develop Road 6800 Rd, which snake through the drainage basins of Wolf Creek and Gray Creek.
