The settlement sits near the Pine Hill Cemetery and Pine Hill, marking a point of transition before the terrain rises into the surrounding ridges. The hydrology of the area is heavily regulated by series of dams, including South Fork Structure Number 13 Dam, which creates Brandywine Lake and supports the Bandywine Lake Campground.
