Brant Lake and its namesake settlement anchor this portion of the Adirondack Park Preserve, where the landscape is defined by a dense concentration of mountain peaks and water bodies. The geography transitions from the winding course of the Schroon River and its floodplain in the southwest to the elevated ridges of Amasa Mtn and Buck Mtn. Smaller, high-altitude ponds such as Bennett Pond, Lily Pond, and Crystal Lake are scattered throughout the peaks, often connected by narrow drainages like Lily Pond Brook and Alder Brook.
