The Gravelly Range dominates this portion of the Beaverhead National Forest, where high-elevation basins and seasonal drainages define the landscape. This 2020 survey documents a complex network of forest access routes, including Gravelly Range Rd and Natl Forest Develop Road 324 Rd, which navigate the steep transition from the ridge tops to the valley floors. Settlement is concentrated in small clearings such as Clover Meadows, surrounded by the namesake Broomtail Ridge.
