The high Chihuahuan Desert landscape of West Texas is defined by a complex network of seasonal drainage channels, as seen in this 2019 survey of the borderlands. The terrain is dominated by the deeply incised Pecos Canyon in the southwest corner and the prominent Cedar Bluff Canyon toward the center. This topography illustrates the arid geography of the Edwards Plateau, where water movement is dictated by ephemeral features such as Noelke Draw, Middle Draw, and Jackson Draw.
