Bullwhack Summit rises as a central landmark in this high-elevation landscape of eastern Nevada, where the desert basins of Steptoe Valley and Cave Valley meet. This 2014 survey documents a territory defined by seasonal watercourses and remote springs, notably Robbers Roost Spring and Bullwhack Spring. The terrain transitions from the broad washes of Cattle Camp Wash to the dramatic peaks of the Schell Creek Range in the southeast corner. Significant local landmarks like Mollys Nipples and Robbers Roost Basin suggest a history of early range use and perhaps the hideouts of the Old West. The presence of Basque Canyon reflects the regional heritage of sheep ranching, while Patterson Pass Rd provides one of the few formal routes through this complex topography of canyons and summits.
