Calispell Peak and Saddle Mtn anchor this high-altitude landscape along the border of Stevens and Pend Oreille counties. The terrain is characterized by a series of significant mountain meadows, including Lenhart Meadows, Pal Moore Meadow, and Hartill Meadows, which suggest a history of seasonal grazing or early homesteading in the open basins between the peaks. The northern and western reaches of the map are dominated by the Little Pend Oreille NWR, where drainage systems like N Fork Bear Cr and Bayley Cr flow through the protected forest. In the southeast, the headwaters of Krumm Cr and Butte Cr emerge from the slopes of the Kaniksu National Forest, while Phillips Lake provides a distinct water feature in the southwest. This 2020 survey illustrates the modern boundaries of the Colville National Forest and the ongoing conservation management of this northeastern Washington mountain range.
