The Metolius River defines the eastern boundary of this wilderness area, where its cold waters flow past landmark features like Wizard Falls and the nearby Wizard Falls Spring. This section of the Deschutes National Forest is characterized by high ridges and a complex network of forest development roads that provide access to the interior. Notable elevations include Sugar Pine Ridge and Abbot Butte, the latter of which is surrounded by several water sources such as Abbot Butte Spring and Abbot Cr.
