The Slumgullion Slide dominates the southwestern corner of this landscape, a massive geologic feature within the Gunnison National Forest. High-altitude plateaus define the region, including the Cannibal Plateau and the Calf Creek Plateau, separated by dramatic drainages like Devils Canyon and the evocatively named Cañon Inferno. This terrain in Hinsdale County is a network of historic access routes, from the Devils Creek Trl to the specialized Deer Lakes Snowmobile Trl near the southern boundary.
