Trementina Creek and its many tributary canyons define this high-desert landscape in San Miguel County. The settlement of Romero sits at a junction where the local drainage systems meet, served by the winding path of County Road C-56-A. This 2010 survey illustrates a complex network of topographical features, from the prominent heights of Mesa Huerfanita and Mesa Huerfana to the deeply carved Cañon Olguin and Cañon Largo.
