Alkali Springs Coulee and its neighboring drainages define the landscape of this high-plains region along the border of Liberty and Chouteau counties. The area is characterized by a network of seasonal watercourses, including Pondera Coulee and Carlson Coulee, which cut through the terrain to create distinctive geological features. This 2020 survey illustrates the section-line road system that organizes the modern agricultural and ranching life of the Montana plains.
