Bare Mountain dominates this portion of the Nevada desert, its eastern slopes marked by a series of steep drainages including Tarantula Canyon, Chuckwalla Canyon, and Tungsten Canyon. The landscape is defined by its arid character and sharp elevation changes, from the heights of Bare Mountain Peak and Razorback Ridge down to the ephemeral Amargosa River bed in the southwest.
