Cascade Pass serves as a critical point of geographic transition where the boundaries of North Cascades National Park, Mount Baker National Forest, and Wenatchee National Forest meet. This high-altitude landscape is defined by massive peaks including Johannesburg Mtn, Sahale Mtn, and the distinctive The Triplets, while the Skagit Co Chelan Co boundary traces the crest of the range. The map illustrates the complex hydrology of the High Cascades, showing the headwaters of the N Fork Cascade River, Middle Fk Cascade River, and the Stehekin River. Glacial features and high alpine basins are prevalent, notably Boston Basin and Horseshoe Basin. Remote bodies of water such as Doubtful Lake, Pelton Lake, and the uniquely named Kool-Aid Lake are interspersed among the ridges. Further south, the terrain drops into Box Canyon and rises again toward the massive Mt Formidable.
