The high plateau of Cedar Mesa dominates this 1996 survey, where the landscape drops precipitously toward the southern desert floor. A key navigational feature of the area is the Moki Dugway, a series of sharp switchbacks that negotiate the steep escarpment between the mesa top and the lower elevations. To the southeast, the iconic sandstone formations of the Valley of the Gods begin to emerge, including the uniquely named Lady in the Bathtub rock formation.
