The small settlement of Centro occupies a high-altitude agricultural landscape defined by an extensive network of water management. The Alamosa River cuts across the center of the terrain, feeding into a complex system of human-made irrigation features including the Terrace Main Canal, Valdez Ditch Number 5, and the Norland Ditch. These waterways support the scattered homesteads and ranches that dot the valley floor between the rising elevations of Chaquita Peak to the northwest and the deep cuts of Ra Jadero Canyon and Trujillo Canyon to the south.
