Mesa Huerfana dominates the northern landscape of this San Miguel County terrain, rising above a network of seasonal drainages and mesas. The small settlement at Trementina PO stands as a focal point of human activity in an area otherwise defined by ranching and high-desert geography. Evidence of local heritage and spiritual life is visible at the Sagrado Corazon Cem, situated near the headwaters of Corazon Creek.

The land is deeply etched by a complex system of arroyos and canyons, including Arroyo Rendia, Arroyo de la Manga, and Cañon Indio. These features, along with the prominent Cerro de Corazon, illustrate the drainage patterns feeding toward the Conchas R in the south. The presence of numerous fence lines and scattered wells indicates a landscape long organized for livestock grazing during the early 1970s.
