Cibola National Forest and El Malpais National Monument define the high volcanic landscape of Cibola County. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail winds through the center of the map, passing a series of prominent volcanic peaks including Cerro Hueco, Cerro Negro, and Cerro Leonides. This portion of the Zuni-Bandera volcanic field is marked by numerous seasonal lagoons and cinder cones that create a distinct hydrographic pattern.
