Lujane and the surrounding high-country mesas anchor this 2010 study of the landscape east of Montrose. The area's complex water management system is prominently displayed, featuring the engineering of the Gunnison Tunnel and its West Portal, alongside an extensive network of irrigation infrastructure such as the Vernal Mesa Ditch and Hairpin Ditch. These systems support agriculture across the tiered terrain of Upper Bostwick Park and Poverty Mesa.
