The Pinnacles stand out as a striking geologic focal point in the northwest corner of this arid landscape within the Mojave Desert. The terrain transitions from the floor of Searles Valley through complex canyon systems, including the namesake Christmas Canyon to the south. Transportation across this remote part of San Bernardino County is defined by a network of desert routes such as Searles Valley Rd and Randsburg Wash Rd, which follow the natural contours of the land. Drainage patterns are dominated by the broad Teagle Wash, cutting through the northern section of the map. This 2018 survey documents a region defined by its extreme topography and the infrastructure required to navigate the high desert floor between historically significant mining districts and valley basins.
