Chubbuck stands at the intersection of several desert thoroughfares in this San Bernardino County landscape. The settlement is positioned near the junction of Kilbeck Hills Rd, Skeleton Pass Rd, and the intriguing Old Woman Meteorite Rd. To the south and west, the terrain transitions into the wide expanse of the Cadiz Valley, which is dominated by the sprawling crystalline surface of Cadiz Lake and the industrial imprint of Salt Evaporation Rd. The Kilbeck Hills provide a natural barrier between this basin and the adjacent Ward Valley to the east. This 2012 survey illustrates the sparse, specialized infrastructure of the Mojave, where road names often hint at local geology and natural history, and drainage systems like Browns Wash define the arid topography.
