Crazy Mountains terrain dominates this modern survey of the Meagher and Wheatland county line, where high ridges separate the drainages of the Shields and Musselshell river systems. Much of the southern half of the sheet is protected within the Lewis & Clark National Forest, centered around the prominent Cinnamon Peak. A network of backcountry access points, including the Little Elk Trl and Groveland Trl, connects the higher elevations to the drainages below. The landscape is defined by its water system, with Little Elk Creek flowing north and North Fork Big Elk Creek carving through the southeast. Ranching access remains evident on the periphery via Crazy M Rach Rd and Miller Creek Rd, providing a clear record of contemporary land use and topographic boundaries in this part of Montana.
