1989 Map of Contact

USGS Topo · Published 1989

About this map

Mining operations and high desert peaks define this late-twentieth-century study of the northeastern Nevada landscape near the settlement of Contact. The map reveals a high density of mineral exploration and extractable sites, including the Mammoth Mine, Helen B Smith Mine, and the Marshall Mine. These workings are concentrated around the slopes of Ellen D Mountain and Tabletop Mountain, where the topography is also marked by the Vivian Decline and Blue Bird Mine.
