Copper Mtn and the surrounding high desert of Mineral County define this landscape at the intersection of several distinct geological formations. The central drainage of Nugent Wash carves through the terrain, separating the western Gillis Range from the eastern Gabbs Valley Range. This network of washes and ridges, including the prominent Rand Ridge, creates a complex topography typical of the Great Basin region.
