About this map

Cortez Peak and the southern reaches of the Gila Bend Mountains define this arid landscape in Maricopa County. The terrain transitions from the elevated peaks in the southwest to the broad, flat Harquahala Plain that occupies the northern and eastern portions of the map. This area is characterized by a complex network of seasonal drainage channels, including Fourth of July Wash, Yellow Medicine Wash, and the notably named Pandemic Wash.
