To the east, the terrain rises sharply into a series of ridges and flats overlooking the Middle Fork Eel River. Topographic landmarks such as Asa Bean Ridge, Blueschist Narrows, and George Lambert Canyon illustrate the complex geography carved by the river's tributaries, including Short Cr and Poor Mans Cr. The transition from the alluvial flats of Simmerley Flat and Atkinson Flat to the high points of Dingman Ridge shows the isolation of these upland pockets.
