Covelo and the agricultural expanse of Round Valley anchor the western portion of this Mendocino County survey. The landscape transitions from the flat valley floor, marked by a grid of rural lanes like Frazier Ln and Haley Ln, into the steep, deeply incised canyons of the Mendocino National Forest. To the east, the Middle Fork Eel River winds through dramatic terrain, passing the Blueschist Narrows and several named river flats, including Simmerley Flat and Atkinson Flat.
