The Stillwater Range dominates the eastern half of this Churchill County landscape, where the high desert terrain transitions sharply into the expansive, low-lying Carson Sink to the west. This 2018 survey reveals a topography defined by steep drainages and seasonal water sources essential to the Great Basin environment. Deep erosional features such as Cox Canyon, Kent Canyon, and Lambing Canyon cut through the range, funneling drainage toward the sink.
