Lakeside Mountains dominate the western horizon of this high-desert landscape in Tooele County, where the topography drops sharply toward the eastern flats. Along the northeastern edge, the waters of the Great Salt Lake reach into Carrington Bay, defining the shoreline's reach into the Lakeside Valley. The terrain is characterized by a complex network of canyons and passes, such as Well Pass and Beards Hollow, which served as natural corridors through the peaks.
