Manti-La Sal National Forest dominates this landscape, where the high plateau of Milk Ranch Point gives way to a network of deeply incised drainages. The area is defined by its verticality, from the heights of East Point and Chippean Ridge down into the depths of Hammond Canyon and Cottonwood Wash. The label for Indian Village in the southeastern quadrant suggests a localized cultural footprint amidst the canyons, while the naming of the Cream Pots indicates a distinctive geologic formation central to the region. Access throughout this complex terrain is provided by a series of specialized routes, including the Allen Canyon Trail (453) Trl and Posey Canyon Trl. These trails, along with Forest Rd 092, trace the natural contours of the land, connecting the high ridges to the dry washes below.
