The vast dry expanse of Cuddeback Lake dominates this section of the northern Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County. Located within a series of surveyed township and range boundaries, the landscape is defined by its arid basin and the sudden elevation of Almond Mtn to the north. A subtle indentation in the terrain known as Almond Cove marks the transition between the mountain foothills and the lake bed, suggesting the ancient hydrological pathways that once fed this desert sink.
