Delaware and Lenapah anchor this northern Oklahoma landscape where the agricultural grid meets the winding drainages of the Verdigris River watershed. The terrain is defined by the meandering course of California Creek and its many branches, including Little California Cr, which cut through the rolling prairies of Nowata County. Significant local landmarks include Glenn Webster Reservoir in the north and the prominent elevation of Cedar Bluff near the southern margin.
