The Kern River carves a deep path through the southern reaches of the Sierra Nevada in this contemporary survey of the Greenhorn Mountains. The landscape is dominated by the steep drainage systems of the Sequoia National Forest, where numerous named water sources like Oscar Meyer Spring, Hog Hole Spring, and Democrat Spring dot the terrain. Human presence is concentrated along transit corridors and small flats, notably at China Garden and Poso Flat.
