About this map

Malheur National Forest dominates the northern reaches of this high-desert landscape in Harney County, where the topography is defined by the prominent Devine Ridge and a series of deep drainages. The area is marked by its essential water sources, including numerous named springs such as Widow Spring, Petersen Spring, and Devine Ridge Spring, which have long served as vital points for livestock and land management. The drainage network includes Poison Creek and Soldier Creek, the latter carving through the eastern portion of the sheet near Tudor Canyon. Infrastructure is centered around the Armstrong Canyon Reservoir, which captures runoff in the arid environment. To the south, the terrain softens into the Sand Hill area, crossed by Harney Rd and Substation Rd, reflecting the sparse but critical road network connecting this remote portion of the Oregon high country.
