Chippewa National Forest encompasses this aquatic landscape in Itasca County, where a complex network of waterways defines the territory. The northern reaches of Lake Winnibigoshish dominate the southern boundary, fed by the Third River Flowage and the meandering course of the Third River. This hydrological system is further segmented by numerous smaller basins such as Minisogama Lake, Kenogama Lake, and Morph Lake. The topography is shaped by these water bodies and their connecting streams, including Island Lake Creek and Castle Creek.
