About this map

The Yellowstone River cuts a prominent path through the southern end of Paradise Valley in this mid-1980s provisional survey. This reach of the river is flanked by the towering peaks of the Absaroka Range and Beartooth Mountains, with the topography rising sharply from the water to the heights of Dome Mountain and the distinctive Sphinx Mountain. Much of the land is managed as part of the Gallatin National Forest, including the protected Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.
