Douglas sits at the northeastern corner of this 2018 survey, positioned just north of Bartons Lake on the border where Ward Co meets McLean Co. The landscape is defined by the high plains of central North Dakota, marked by numerous small depressions and wetlands characteristic of the region's glacial topography. Drainage in the southern half of the quadrangle is directed through the winding Middle Br Douglas Cr, which carves a subtle valley through the prairie.
