Sulphur Hot Springs and the high alpine drainage of the Suiattle River define this corner of the Mount Baker National Forest during the mid-2010s. The landscape is dominated by significant peaks such as Mt Buckindy, Mt Misch, and Downey Mtn, which straddle the boundary between Skagit and Snohomish Counties. High-altitude water bodies including Bench Lake, Pilot Lake, and Horse Lake are scattered across the high country, connected by a network of steep drainages like Downey Cr and Bachelor Cr.
