About this map

Gabbs Valley and the surrounding high desert of Nye County are defined by a network of basins and ranges as they appeared in 2021. The landscape is dominated by the Paradise Range and the Lodi Hills, which frame the open expanse of the Lodi Valley. An ephemeral drainage system, centered on the winding Gabbs Wash, cuts through the alluvial fans at the base of these mountains. Civil infrastructure is sparse but notable, with Gabbs Airport serving this remote corridor. To the southeast, the terrain rises into the protected boundaries of the Toiyabe National Forest, where deep incisions like Craig Canyon and McGery Canyon mark the eastern slopes. A straight stretch of Del Vega St cuts across the valley floor, reflecting the grid-based land management of the Great Basin.
