Santa Fe National Forest encompasses the high-altitude terrain of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in this northern New Mexico survey. The landscape is defined by massive peaks and deep drainages, notably Hermit Peak and El Cielo Mtn overlooking the Gallinas Cr watershed. In the eastern portion of the map, the small settlement of El Porvenir sits at the foot of Porvenir Canyon, serving as a gateway to the mountains.
