1970 Map of Everett Canyon

USGS Topo · Published 1973

About this map

Everett Ranch and several other family-named landholdings define the high plateau landscape of Val Verde County in the late 1960s. The terrain is deeply incised by a series of dramatic drainages, including Oppenheimer Canyon and Everett Canyon, which feed toward the Pecos River along the western margin. This 1970 field-checked survey reveals a remote ranching economy dependent on subterranean water sources, indicated by numerous Well points and a network of Jeep Trails that navigate the ridges between steep canyons.
