Factory Butte rises as a central topographic anchor in this high-desert landscape of Emery County, situated just north of the Wayne Co line. The terrain is defined by dramatic erosional features, including the sweeping Moroni Slopes to the northwest and the prominent North Caineville Mesa and North Caineville Reef in the southwest. A network of ephemeral drainage systems, such as Salt Wash, Tank Wash, and Neilson Wash, carve through the expansive Upper Blue Hills. Human presence is marked by a sparse network of desert tracks, including Factory Rd and Coal Mine Rd, which provide access to high plateaus like Wood Bench and Factory Bench. This survey captures the isolation of the region's geological formations and the rugged infrastructure of the Utah backcountry.
