Colorado River and Paria River carve through the southern reaches of this landscape near the Arizona-Utah border. The terrain is defined by complex geological formations, including the Thousand Pockets area and the deep recesses of Glen Canyon and Paria Canyon. Much of the eastern and southern portions of the map are protected within the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
