Much of the local economy is focused near the center of the sheet at the Oil and Gas Field surrounding Fey Lakes, where names like the A Fey Ranch and J Fey Ranch indicate long-established grazing lands. To the south, the terrain descends into The Deep Ground, an area of complex topography bisected by the Gold Butte Road leading toward the Sweetgrass Hills.
