Fishlake National Forest and the western edge of Capitol Reef National Park dominate this high-altitude landscape in central Utah. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes, from the heights of Thousand Lake Mtn to the depths of Pole Canyon and Salt Gulch. A network of historic routes, including the Great Western Trail and the Loa Trl, traverses the ridges and basins, indicating the long-standing use of these corridors for livestock movement and forest access.
