A complex network of major interchanges and primary roads like McDonnell Blvd serves the bustling Lambert St Louis International Airport in the southwest corner.

Evidence of the area's older history and diverse land use is preserved in features such as Musicks Ferry and the many parochial institutions, including St Josephs Convent of Mercy and the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Geologically, the northeastern portion near Shoveltown reveals a different character with an active Oil and Gas Field and a cluster of sinkholes labeled simply as Sinks, highlighting the unique karst topography that persists even as the city grew around it.
