Flournoy sits as the central settlement in this portion of Tehama County, where the western edge of the Sacramento Valley meets the rising terrain of the coastal ranges. The landscape is defined by the drainage patterns of several significant waterways, most notably Thomes Cr and Mill Cr, which flow eastward toward the valley floor. To the north, the prominent elevation of Table Mtn overlooks a network of canyons and gulches, including the deeply etched Government Gulch.
