The town's grid is dominated by the California Western RR, which follows the northern bank of Pudding Creek before heading inland toward the forest. To the north, Mac Kerricher State Park encompasses Lake Cleone and the dunes near Laguna Pt, while the southern reaches of the map transition into the dense woods of the Jackson State Forest.

Maritime activity is centered around the Noyo River and Noyo Bay, where the small settlement of Noyo sits at the river's mouth. Evidence of the region's industrial past is visible at Ft Bragg Landing and the Pumphouse near the coast. The landscape is defined by several parallel drainages, including Hare Creek, Digger Creek, and Mitchell Creek, which cut through the coastal terrace toward the sea, while the heights of Bald Hill rise to the east of the primary settlement.
