Six Rivers National Forest and Mendocino National Forest meet in this high-altitude landscape along the border of Trinity County. The terrain is defined by a series of prominent peaks and geological landmarks, most notably the namesake Four Corners Rock, alongside Washington Rock and Mikes Rock. These features overlook the complex drainage systems of the Mad River and the N Fork Middle Fork Eel River, which carve through the ridges.
